History

In the dawn of Thekal civilization, three dominant families jointly held the reins of power on Adamo: the Kinsigors, the Parkqwins, and the Rythmans. Their influence permeated every facet of Adamo's society.

To be part of the governing body, individuals needed to surpass a certain age threshold. As time progressed, these families incrementally increased the age prerequisite, ensuring the general populace remained excluded. The average citizen's lifespan stretched to their nineties, while the affluent lived well beyond. Unbeknownst to the masses, the secret to the elite's extended lifespan lay in the sap of the Lachino plant. Grown in a concealed corner of Adamo, this sap was the elixir of longevity. As the privileged became infatuated with prolonged life, it solidified their enduring dominance.

However, the Rythmans, believing in the democratization of this secret, advocated for its dissemination to the masses. This sparked a catastrophic civil conflict, resulting in the loss of countless lives. Ultimately, the Kinsigors and Parkqwins emerged victorious, exiling the Rythmans and their followers to the arid red satellite, Umlos.

Political

The Thekals leadership operates under a unique diarchic system, jointly held by Callanon Kinsingor from the Kinsingors lineage and VonDarin Parkqwin of the Parkqwins line. Their combined affluence and resources have allowed them to retain control for several generations. Beneath these influential families, the Oikos council exists, a conglomerate of affluent families hailing from the Central Beaucator Valley.

Callanon Kinsingor, the patriarch, is an imposing figure — relentless, assertive, and demanding. Standing tall, he possesses a timelessly handsome appearance, complemented by a velvety voice that commands attention. An inner insecurity plagues him, stemming from his belief that his family's treasures fall short when compared to their co-ruling counterparts. Callanon imposes stringent regulations on his offspring: his daughters must seek his consent for matrimony, while his sons are expected to contribute significantly to the family's dominion. Yet, his children, inheriting their mother's independent spirit, often clandestinely pursue their own paths.

Contrastingly, VonDarin Parkqwin is driven, yet retains a balanced disposition, being neither excessively assertive nor submissive. As the youngest in his lineage, he was thrust into the patriarchal role unexpectedly following the presumed demise of his elder brother, whose spacecraft tragically exploded en route back from Umlos, the Zolduryte’s planet. Unaccustomed to such responsibilities, VonDarin often turns to his father-in-law for counsel on governance. When it comes to parenting, he is firm yet compassionate, frequently granting his children more freedom than most would deem appropriate, reflecting upon his own childhood experiences. In matters of diplomacy, he excels, although he frequently finds himself at odds with Callanon Kinsingor.

Culture

The predominant language spoken by the Thekals is Tekish. This language serves as the foundation for many regional dialects. In the Central Beaucator Valley, the accent is smooth and rounded, while the accents from the distant north and south are notably sharper.

Adamo's moon colonies have adopted a language derivative of Tekish, infused with ancient dialects. Speakers of this hybrid tongue are termed "Damish speakers." While they can engage with Tekish speakers, they may stumble upon newer words and tones unfamiliar to them.

The Thekals are renowned for their exceptional efficiency and ability to extract minerals and resources. Almost everyone in this society is tied, in some manner, to their primary economic activity: mining. Yet, while they are industrious, they are equally passionate about celebrations. Their annual calendar is bustling with festivities and holidays. A typical Thekal household often radiates with elaborate decorations.

Fashion holds significant sway in Thekal society. Whether one is toiling in the mining fields on Adamo or beyond, it is paramount to do so in style. Their attire is a potpourri of design inspirations, drawing from diverse historical eras, encompassing everything from the regalia of warriors and nobles to modern streetwear, punctuated with gears, ruffles, and more. Notably, goggles featuring detailed designs on expansive, circular frames are a common accessory.

Planet

Adamo, characterized by its alpine tundra environment, orbits as the 7th planet around the Zohar star and serves as the Thekals' homeworld. Talmoria, its principal continent, is divided by the significant Drax River into two main regions: the Blacklands in the north and Dreisland in the south. These regions predominantly experience chilly, winter-esque climates. Notoriously, Adamo faces fierce winds and ever-shifting weather conditions. However, a narrow belt encircling the equator in the Central Beaucator Valley boasts contrasting seasons: arid summers that range from warm to scorching and mild winters with periodic rainfall. The continent's dual capitals, Andoria and Cladence, reside on either side of the Drax River, north and south respectively. Orbiting Adamo is its five moons: Umlos, Vaburn, Delella, Banong, Cynar, and Coldtose.
